Every year I look forward to October for 3 reasons:

1. It is Horror Movie season.
2. Frankenberry and Booberry Cereal (Where is the Yummy Mummy, General Mills?)
3. My October to read pile

Since I was a teenager, I have separated my to read pile into two categories, to read now and to read in October. My intent has always been to collect all of my reading in the horror genre for consumption during the Halloween season. Predictably, I always end up with more horror stories than I can possible read in a month. My priority is usually decided by favorite authors and peer recommendations. So, when author Neil Gaiman invented All Hallow’s Eve, I thought it was brilliant idea.

The All Hallow’s Eve tradition is simple. Give a scary story to someone for their enjoyment during the week of Halloween. It doesn’t matter who, just give one away. But, make sure the story is appropriate for the age of your recipient! A new or used book, it doesn’t matter. If you don’t have any friends then find donate one to your local library.

Since this is my first year participating, I will be honoring the All Hallow’s Eve founder by giving out a few copies of The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman. Hopefully, it will inspire some of the younger generation to love scary stories or even explore some of the other stories in Gaiman’s brilliant collection.

Read More about All Hallow’s Read at All Hallow’s Eve or listen to Neil tell you about it below.
